...though it is hell to clean. What happened to Teflon or whatever special coating they use now?
My recommendation would be to coat with a non-stick spray before using - regardless of what you are cooking or which side you are using.
Do Not Buy this Grill, Coating Comes off In First Use
The pan arrived quickly, looks nice and is lightweight. Fit great on my burners. I heated it over medium heat, grilled a thick piece of salmon for about 15 - 20 minutes (it was a big fillet), and we ate it, all fine.
Then when I was cleaning the pan I saw these white spots on it. The black nonstick coating just came off on the first use and I was looking at the white/silver metal underneath. The pan never even had high heat on it. The black coating must have been on the fish and I guess we ate it. Now we'll probably get non-stick-coating-cancer.
My husband says that's what I get for buying this cheap pan, but I've cooked on lots of cheap pans that don't come apart, for years.
Next time I'm sticking with heavy cast iron, will season it myself. So disappointing.
Buyer Beware!
I had seen celebrity chefs using this type of grill and thought it was a great idea. Not having to go outside and still get the same great grilled taste was a bonus. When I researched the grills I realized they were over $100, so I changed my mind and didn't buy one. Then when I saw the Nathan's grill for such a low price, I bought it. What a huge disappointment. Although it grilled my vegetables and chicken just fine, the coating started to come off while cooking. Then when I cleaned the grill the rest of the coating came right off. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for! Buyer beware!!
